Promotion of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy
Global demand for energy has risen inexorably in the last 150 years in step with industrial development and population growth. The lion’s share of global energy (about 80% at present) is supplied by coal, oil and gas – the ‘fossil fuels’ that formed long ago from the carbon-rich remains of dead plants and animals. However these are non-renewable sources that will one day be exhausted. The world needs energy that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Greener Impact International in its role of promoting energy efficiency and investing in renewable energy, we are involved in Public Education and Awareness Building, Institutional Development and Capacity Building for Energy Efficiency and advocacy for the adoption of Energy Efficiency as a National Strategy.
We are also involved in the United Nation Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project where we distribute affordable solar lights to villages and communities without the grid electricity in Ghana. This is to reduce poverty and as well as to reduce their carbon footsteps by replacing all their kerosene lamps with the solar lights.
