Greener Impact Int. joins the World to mark World Environment Day 2017
World Environment Day is the biggest annual event for positive environmental action and takes place every 5 June. It is a Day for everyone, everywhere to take part in actions such as tree planting, awareness creation, clean ups and actions against wildlife crime.
“Connecting People to Nature”, the theme for World Environment Day 2017, invites us to think about how we are part of nature, how intimately we depend on it and hence the need for its protection. It challenges us to find fun and exciting ways to experience and cherish this vital relationship.
To mark this year’s celebrations in Ghana, Greener Impact International joined the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to organize a procession to call on the Kibi community and the general public to take part in actions that promote environmental sustainability. This activity preceded a national durbar and provided a platform for active participation of youth in the celebrations.
Students displayed placards with environmental messages such as “Let’s plant trees along river bodies”, “Keep your Environment Clean” etc. The participating schools were Abuakwa State College, Kyebi Senior High school and Kibi Senior Technical High School. The rest were Kibi Presbyterian Primary A and B schools and Kibi State primary school.
